Welcome
The Smith Mountain Lake Woodturners (SMLW) is a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) and is an affiliate of Smith Mountain Arts Council.
We are a group of wood turners that have joined together to share ideas and techniques and to use our knowledge to educate others in the art of the lathe and woodturning. Through our meetings and events, we promote, demonstrate and teach woodturning skills at all levels. Whether you are a beginner, expert, or just curious about woodturning, you are sure to learn something new at our monthly meeting demonstrations.
Visitors, guests and prospective members are invited to stop by at one of our meetings, or contact one of our officers, to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member of Smith Mountain Lake Woodturners.
Smith Mountain Lake Woodturners is excited to make our new home at the Skelton 4-H Center, 775 Hermitage Rd, Wirtz, Virginia 24184. (Directions)
NEW! Starting in 2025, the monthly Westlake Library Display will go from a member’s work being displayed to a theme-based display. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to show their projects. Item/items can be added at the beginning of each month.
